READY FOR EXPANDED NERC GADS REPORTING REQUIREMENTS FOR WIND AND SOLAR?

by Power Factors

Starting this year, NERC requires GADS quarterly reports for wind plants 75MW and larger (with required solar reporting coming in 2022).

To help you stay on top of expanded NERC reporting requirements, the Power Factors Drive platform generates GADS reports for your wind plants with just one click.

To ensure the reliability and security of the North American bulk power system (BPS), the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) has required conventional energy producers to submit Generating Availability Data System (GADS) reports for their 20MW+ systems since 1982.

Starting in 2018, NERC expanded mandatory GADS reporting to include wind plants, requiring quarterly reports for plants with a Total Installed Capacity of 200MW or larger.

In 2019, reports started to be required for wind plants with a Total Installed Capacity between 100 MW and 199.99 MW. Effective January 1, 2020, NERC mandatory GADS reporting expanded to cover all wind plants with a Total Installed Capacity of 75MW and larger.

And solar plants aren’t far behind! NERC begins voluntary GADS reporting on solar plants in 2021, with required reporting coming in 2022.
