Working with one of the world’s oil and gas supermajors, Power Factors helped commission the first phase (250 MW) of a 450 MW solar farm in Victoria, Australia. The electricity from the onsite collector substation will be further transmitted through overhead lines to a new 220kV terminal station, which was built, owned, and operated by TransGrid.
Contributing to the Australian energy market’s transition towards a low carbon-high renewables economy, this highly innovative utility-scale solar farm, the largest in Victoria, is designed to ease grid strength concerns using a 190 MVAr synchronous condenser (the largest of its kind installed in Australia). When finished it is also planned to include a 100MW/380MWh battery storage (BESS) subsystem.
