SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA, April 25, 2023 – Power Factors, a market leader and trusted software as a service (SaaS) provider to over 500 global energy majors and other renewable energy owners and operators, is working with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to drive the digital transformation of the global energy transition. Power Factors is combining its market-leading renewable energy asset performance management SaaS solutions with AWS’s cloud services, which are now available in AWS Private Marketplace.
“We are very pleased to have AWS as our cloud technology provider,” said Gary Meyers, CEO, Power Factors. “Given their commitment to renewable energy, we are excited to transition our industry-leading platforms to AWS. Together, through collaboration and innovation, we are focused on delivering future-ready solutions to meet the increasing demands required to support the green energy future.”
Transitioning Power Factors’ backend to AWS allows Power Factors to reduce IT infrastructure costs while providing the increased scalability and flexibility required to meet renewable energy challenges today and into the future. Data intensity, geographically distributed assets and solving for unique use cases and requirements are just some of the challenges the industry will continue to face into the future.
“Power Factors and AWS share similar commitments to decarbonization and accelerating the world’s energy transition,” said Howard Gefen, General Manager – Energy and Utilities, AWS. “We believe digitalization and cloud technologies are fundamental to a sustainable clean energy transition, and we’re excited to work with Power Factors to provide the secure and flexible infrastructure that energy organizations need to scale successfully.”
AWS offers Power Factors a cloud that underpins a powerful and diverse range of services, including increased data storage, machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI/ML), and the highest security compliance to protect critical data in real time. AWS recently released its new compliance guide, detailing how AWS technologies paired with best practices can satisfy the North American Electric Reliability Corporation Critical Infrastructure Protection’s (NERC CIP) and other regulatory bodies’ requirements for securely connecting energy assets to the cloud.
“With a strong foundation, you know you are getting reliable, actionable data when and where you need it. This is so important as we continue to scale operations. We’re working with Power Factors at a higher level and going after smaller percentages of losses,” said Jeremy Law, Vice President, Commercial Asset Management at Longroad Energy, a Power Factors customer.
“The scalability of cloud-based infrastructure and the canvas it offers us allows for more collaboration among teams than ever before, all with trusted and verified data,” added Dave Roberts, Chief Business Development Officer, Power Factors. “AWS has been transformational for Power Factors, providing access to cutting-edge technologies, automatic scaling, on-demand services, and improved security — assuring our customers that their data is protected with the most stringent security protocols and standards across the industry.”
Power Factors’ SaaS solutions will be made available to global energy majors and renewable energy owners and operators in AWS Private Marketplace. Power Factors’ status and participation in the AWS Independent Software Vendor (ISV) Accelerate Program, a co-sell program for organizations that provide software solutions that run on or integrate with AWS, allows customers to procure Power Factors solutions through their AWS contracts.
As a prerequisite to becoming an AWS ISV Accelerate Program member, the AWS team fully vetted Power Factors’ suite of software solutions, completing functional technical reviews and security audits to ensure its customers of the quality of Power Factors solutions and enabling customers to quickly procure, install, and onboard renewable energy assets into Power Factors’ cloud-based solutions.
With the transition to renewables outpacing previous projections, Power Factors’ relationship with AWS allows it to scale and distribute its leading software solutions faster and more effectively, accelerating the global energy transition and enabling a clean energy future.
