IMPLEMENTATION JR ENGINEER / SPECIALIST

THE ROLE

Power Factors is looking for an Implementation Junior Engineer or Specialist to complete our team.  As Implementation Junior Engineer/ Specialist, you will commission renewable energy plant data into our platform and configure supporting records, displays, and reports that will be used by operators, analysts and managers to drive performance improvements and comply with their reporting requirements.

 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with our Customers and engineers to gather, process, and interpret project information and documentation;
  • Configure servers, clients, network, and devices to establish communications;
  • Validate data flows, troubleshoot, and resolve communication and data issues;
  • Configure and validate performance reports, alarms & events, dashboards, and mimic displays;
  • Manage project schedules, deliverables, and closeout responsibilities;
  • Serve as the face of Power Factors with our Customers;
  • Participate in other projects as required.

 

YOUR PROFILE

  • University Degree degree in computer or electronical engineering or in a related field
  • Member of l’Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec is considered an asset
  • Relevant work experience including internship
  • Familiarity with cloud-based technologies (Azure, AWS, Rackspace, etc.)
  • Familiarity with OSISoft’s PI system, SQL, and Salesforce
  • Ability to read networking and electrical diagrams
  • Effective communicator with an attention to details

THE ROLE

We are looking for an experienced Scrum Master to drive the tactical day-to-day product delivery process. You will oversee three agile teams, each composed of amazingly versatile multidisciplinary professionals. At Power Factor we truly believe in a quality improvement cycle, and the Scrum process is the vehicle through which we plan, execute, validate, and improve our work effort.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITES

  • Conduct day-to-day product delivery process, ensuring agreed upon backlog items are prioritized, developed and released on time;
  • Advocating continuous improvement and protect culture of innovation, promoting rigor for all agile ceremonies, quality of story production, grooming of the backlog, and effective retrospective while having a constant focus on improving the team;
  • Prepare and be the facilitator of Sprint planning, daily scrums, product demo and sprint retrospective. But also Scrum of Scrum, backlog grooming, or continuous improvement brainstorms;
  • Remove impediments that kill productivity or block team progress by managing issue escalations and provide support to teams balancing competing priorities;
  • Communicate on behalf of the product or engineering leads when required;
  • Providing full transparency to the organization at all stages of projects through consistent and accurate reporting.

 

YOUR PROFILE

  • Minimum five (5) years working in an agile product development environment, and a least 2 years as Scrum Master type of role.
  • Deep understanding of common Agile/Lean engineering practices.
  • Technical acumen is required.
  • Experienced in both Scrum and Kanban process flow, and able to apply them where best suited.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and exceptional emotional intelligence.

THE ROLE

Power Factors is growing rapidly and is seeking an experienced Sales Executive to manage Power Factors’ direct sales, channel development, and generating revenue in the Northern European region (DACH + Nordics). The Northern European Regional Sales Executive reports to the to the SVP – Global Sales, Marketing, and Business Development.

Our European operations are growing rapidly, and we are looking for an individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is entrepreneurial to the core, and gets his/her kicks from selling around the competition.  The Sales Executive is responsible for stimulating sales growth by creating relationships with new customers, working with strategic partners, and devising strategies aimed at attracting target customers, and using all available sales resources to produce optimal results. Your grasp of value-added services is vital for establishing partnerships with our customers in order to better understand their needs, while providing them with a technical advisory solution.

YOUR PROFILE

  • Degree in Marketing, Business Administration or in a technical related discipline
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in Enterprise and/or SaaS sales to renewables/power/utility industry, with an understanding of the technology/services required in Cloud/SaaS, industrial IoT, Big Data Analytics.
  • Knowledge of the Renewable Energy (wind, solar, battery) industry and related industry contacts are considered highly desirable assets
  • Strong track record in achieving and exceeding sales objectives

THE ROLE

Power Factors is seeking a Sales Engineer to help spearhead Power Factors’ continued growth in the European wind and solar market. As a key team member, you will have the mandate to ensure a smooth client experience from top-of-funnel sales engagements through proofs-of-concept and contract signing, and you will build the tools and processes that will enable the company to continue to effectively scale throughout Europe.

The Sales Engineer position is an entrepreneurial, cross-functional role that requires multiple skillsets and involves significant interaction and coordination with our prospective customers and Power Factors’ internal sales, engineering, product, development, data science, and customer success teams globally.

As a Sales Engineer you will combine technical knowledge, analytical thinking, project management, product expertise, industry experience, and innate curiosity to accelerate our sales cycles. You will elegantly describe how the outcomes we enable through our Drive System of Engagement solves the pain points and challenges our prospective customers face every day in owning and operating renewable energy power plants.

You will be responsible for setting top-notch first impressions and serve as a technical brand ambassador. Clear, efficient verbal and written communication (in English), asking the right questions, active listening, and learning are paramount in your efforts to build relationships and trust, both individually and between organizations.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage pre-sales discovery, scope alignment, gap identification, and roadmap commitments;
  • Coordinate technical components of commercial discussions, contract negotiations, and Request-for-Proposal (RFP) Responses, and secure internal resource commitments;
  • Deliver sales demos and product presentations, with a keen awareness and deep understanding of the audience’s desired outcomes and pain points and how Power Factors addresses them;
  • Maintain and upgrade various demo environments and tools to showcase Power Factors’ full product suite;
  • Manage product delivery and prospective client engagement during Proofs-of-Concept;
  • Visit existing and prospective clients to engender goodwill and better understand the on-the-ground client experience and use cases;

  • Prepare clients for full onboarding after contract execution and ensure a smooth transition to the Implementation and Customer Success teams;
  • Assess existing customer architectures, processes and toolsets to plan technical onboarding and develop cloud-based deployment plans and integration methods that ensure business continuity, documenting any customer-specific requirements and specifications;
  • Provide technical background and reviews to support marketing material;

YOUR PROFILE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field, e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering; Master’s degree is considered an asset;
  • Minimum five (5) years of relevant experience in the renewable energy industry with experience in technical product/project management, business process development, software development, and/or IoT/networking;
  • Relevant work experience in navigating the renewable energy landscape, including utilities, EPCs, third-party O&M organizations, asset owners, asset managers, and hardware and software vendors;
  • Significant work experience using and configuring Web-based IoT, SaaS, and IPaaS data platforms, including DAS platforms, SCADA systems, enterprise databases and historians, OSIsoft PI, and other cloud platforms, e.g., Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services;
  • Experience in technical writing, marketing, and RFP responses;
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly jump into complex problems and navigate competing priorities to drive solutions using analytical and decision-making skills and priority management;
  • Excellent, clear, concise written and oral communication skills in English. The ability to present in one or more European languages is considered an important asset;

THE ROLE

Power Factors is growing rapidly and we are looking for a passionate, driven candidate to own the IoT analytics capabilities for our Drive platform.  The successful will have a mix of Product Management or Product Owner experience with understanding of Data Science. As the Product Manager, Analytics you are the glue between customer performance engineering teams, internal analytics data scientists, and the software development team by turning market needs into products that delight our users.

Your role will add value for customers and end users by creating a product backlog that reflects the company’s overall product strategy and long-term roadmap. You will be focused on your product’s adoption and the successful realization of product features that solve customers’ problems. You will be required to balance and analyze multiple sources of information, own key features from development to release, and create organizational transparency into a product’s prioritization and engineering efforts.

The successful candidate has relevant experience with enterprise software in the field of Cloud/SaaS, Big Data Analytics, or Industrial IoT along with technical knowledge of Solar/Wind assets in the Renewables industry. This role will report to the VP Product Management and is located at Power Factors office in Brossard, Quebec, Canada.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for Analytics product lifecycle and product line success;
  • Help align and prioritize features to ensure adherence to the roadmap;
  • Manage product feature requirements and enhancement request backlog;
  • Provide input to feature implementation decisions and development reviews;
  • Scale and productize new advanced analytics algorithms leveraging big data technologies;
  • Ensure a consistent and cohesive approach across wind and solar analytics;
  • Define and groom technical requirements in Jira to align with the release plan and product roadmap;
  • Collaborate with the Data Science team members to identify common problems and areas for automation and standardization;
  • Collaborate with the Development team to manage complex features in Jira to deliver maximum business value;
  • Drive quality of analytics product and data visualization user experience to best-in-class through test & validation;

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Engineering or Computer Science degree
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working as an Agile Product Owner in a high-tech company, writing user stories and epics, and following development process through user story acceptance
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in Renewables, Enterprise Software, Data Analytics, or Industrial IoT
  • Data science or experience in quantitative field preferred
  • Knowledge of data analysis applied to Solar and Wind power plant asset performance
  • Knowledge of analytics development tools such as MATLAB or Python

  • Proficient in Agile project management tools such as Jira or Rally

THE ROLE

Power Factors is still growing and we are currently seeking a professional candidate to support the Human Resources and Accounting functions. The successful candidate has experience in payroll processing, administration of various human resources activities as well as accounts payable and receivable processing.  As the Coordinator, Human Resource and Accounting, your role will consist in supporting the Director, HR and Manager, Finance in structuring said functions and ensuring timely quality services delivery to our internal and external clients, partners and different stakeholders.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure timely and accurate payroll entries and process bi-weekly payrolls for multiple companies;
  • Process employee data changes including new hire, terminations, promotions, supervisor changes, transfers, and other transactions as needed in the payroll systems, benefits and RRSP systems;
  • Support the director HR and hiring managers with recruiting functions (job postings, coordinate interviews and testing, performing background verifications, etc);
  • Support the manager finance in performing various data entries and information gathering to process monthly bills;
  • Participate in the HRIS implementation project and conduct data audits in said system;
  • Administer benefits including enrolment, changes and terminations;
  • Administer different employee recognition programs within the Company;
  • Receive, review, research and forward for approval when necessary all invoices and check requests presented for payment;
  • Enter, on a timely basis, all invoices and check requests into the accounting system for payment;
  • Perform monthly credit card reconciliations and verify monthly charges;
  • Process monthly expense accounts;
  • Ensure security of credit cards and verify monthly charges;
  • Handle staff and vendor inquiries and resolve any issues in a timely matter;
  • Provide and generate monthly reports as required;
  • Participate in other projects related to Human Resources and Accounting as required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Administration or in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with Canadian payroll systems and HRIS

TEAM LEAD, CLOUD OPERATIONS (AZURE)

THE ROLE

We are seeking a professional Azure administrator to join the Power Factors Cloud Operations team and lead the current Azure Cloud Ops team on day to day activities. As a SaaS provider to the renewable energies industry, the Drive platform must be available and able to scale with our customers’ growing demands. In this role, you will report to the Director, Cloud Operations and will execute daily operations while supervising the Cloud Ops team in ensuring the infrastructure is running properly, effectively, and securely.

Currently, the Power Factors cloud infrastructure consists of multiple Azure subscriptions for various environments with a diverse collection of resources and technologies. Within these subscriptions, Power Factors is using a variety of Azure services such as Virtual Networks and VPNs, Virtual Machines, App Services, Storage Accounts, and Azure Cosmo DB to name a few. In addition to leading and mentoring the team, this role will require hands-on work to assist with scripting and automating new resources within Azure to support new development efforts, disaster recovery, and new customers.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and set quarterly goals for the Azure cloud operations team;
  • Communicate clear instructions to the rest of team regarding goals and plans;
  • Work with the rest of the Azure cloud ops team to execute quarterly goals;
  • Listen to feedback from team members and other departments regarding Azure infrastructure;
  • Assist the cloud operations team with administration for Azure subscriptions and resources;
  • Help troubleshoot problems, determine root cause, and deploy solutions with the team;
  • Lead the deployment, configuration, and documentation for production and testing systems with Azure DevOps pipelines;
  • Ensure network connectivity and security within the cloud infrastructure;
  • Ensure the entire cloud operations team adheres to release and change configuration policies for production systems as required;
  • Ensure maintenance, documentation, and access controls to the servers, applications, and tools are in accordance with our SOC certification for the entire team;
  • Ensure backup and disaster recovery plans of all Azure resources;
  • Assist with scripting and automation of application and infrastructure deployments;
  • Lead communications with third party companies for annual penetration tests;
  • Ensure system monitoring for all Azure components to ensure availability, performance, scalability, and security of all production and testing systems;
  • Monitor system resource usage to ensure costs are minimized where applicable
  • Participate in various projects as required.

 

YOUR PROFILE

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering or in a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of significant work experience with Microsoft Azure
  • Experience in leading a small team
  • Knowledge of system monitoring in a cloud environment for performance, security, and cost analysis
  • Experience with Agile and DevOps concepts and working as part of a scrum team
  • Experience with Azure DevOps (VSTS) for CI/CD
  • Experience in deploying Azure resources with PowerShell, ARM templates, Terraform
  • Possess and demonstrate general understanding of TCP/IP network communications and VPNs in Azure
  • Familiarity with penetration testing and OWASP top 10
  • Must be hands-on and actively participate in the delivery of Cloud Operations throughout the organization

THE ROLE

As a Data Scientist on the Power Factors’ Solar Advanced Analytics team, you will investigate analytical and characterization questions across all aspects of photovoltaics performance, operations, management and reporting. Be prepared to explore a wide variety of data science tool sets to extract information from diverse data sets. The best candidates will be curious and willing to continually take on new challenges and opportunities to learn (new programing languages, techniques, technologies). You will provide well defined solutions to our Software Development team for implementation in Power Factors’ Drive platform.

In this role, you will be reporting to the Technical Director, Solar and you will be an active member of a team composed of passionate and highly qualified professionals that aims at changing the energy landscape.

 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with other members of the Solar Data Science team to explore analytical problems and solutions;
  • Work independently to investigate and develop specific characterization techniques;
  • Integrate and maintain targeted characterizations in the broader context of applied, predictive and prescriptive analytics;
  • Ensure that analytics are robust and resilient in a production environment with diverse assets and variable data quality;
  • Write sophisticated machine learning and data analysis code in Python, R or MATLAB;
  • Work closely with other Solar Data Scientists and Software Engineering Team to maintain coding standards and revision control to facilitate seamless integration of new capabilities;
  • Work with Data Engineers on data quality assessment, data cleansing and analytics;
  • Collaborate with Product Managers to understand requirements and use cases;
  • Develop, verify and validate analytics to address customer needs and requirements;
  • Communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organization. Our data scientists regularly share complex insights with all kinds of people;
  • Continuously strive to efficiently deliver actionable information to Power Factors’ customers. You will interact directly with internal and external Performance Engineers to design solutions that help them solve real world problems and drive value.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, in Computer Science, or in a related field;
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience as a Data Scientist ideally in the renewable Energy field including in Solar;
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with programming languages (Python strongly preferred; C#, R, MATLAB also relevant);
  • Demonstrated, practical experience with a variety of data science tools and techniques such as machine learning, neural networks, condition monitoring and pattern recognition;
  • Solid knowledge in statistics and mathematics;
  • Good understanding of machine learning and data mining algorithms;
  • Familiarity with large-scale data processing frameworks (eg. Apache Spark);
  • Demonstrated skill at data preprocessing, data modeling and data quality assessment (especially as related to time series data);
  • Demonstrated skill at using the right algorithms to analyze the data and provide meaningful insights;
  • Demonstrated skill in research ability for new algorithm development and deployment;
  • Demonstrated skill in feature extraction and real-time analytics development and deployment;
  • Ability to continuously learn and explore new techniques to provide insights and answers;
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are a must;
  • Experience with cloud analytics engines a plus (e.g. Azure ML, Google TensorFlow, etc.) will be considered an asset;
  • Experience using version control (Git preferred) for collaborative code development will be considered an asset;
  • Experience developing analytics for product solutions is also considered an asset;
